Reverend Dr. Derra Ramsey
Pastor of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Egdefield
Reverend Ramsey is a proud native of Thomson, Georgia, where he accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Popular Spring Baptist Church. Reverend Ramsey is married to Joann Ramsey and is the proud parent of three adult sons. (Carlos, Darryl, Derrance)
Reverend Ramsey proudly served twenty-four years of active duty in the United States Army and retired as a Master Sergeant from Fort Jackson, South Carolina, in October 2004. He currently works at the Columbia VA Regional Office, which began in August 2005. His position is the Training Manager, where he serves on the Columbia Regional Office Director’s staff.
Reverend Ramsey’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Excelsior College, Albany, NY. He received his Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Webster University Columbia, South Carolina. He received his Master of Divinity in Biblical Studies from Columbia International University (CIU) in Columbia, South Carolina. He currently completed a degree in Leadership from Columbia International University in December 2024. December 14, 2024, he received a Doctrine of Ministry in Leadership from Columbia International University.
His main hobby includes reading and studying God’s word. He is passionate about teaching and preaching the word of God. Reverend Ramsey is passionate about helping people and cares deeply about other people’s lives.
Reverend Ramsey is the youngest of three brothers who preach the Gospel in his family. His favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthened me.” Reverend Ramsey is the Pastor at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Edgefield, South Carolina. Reverend Ramsey is dedicated to serving in pastoral ministry and preaching and teaching the gospel.

Our purpose is to function as servants of or Lord Jesus Christ, serving with a loving and faithful spirit alongside our Pastor to help share Christ with as many people as possible in our church and community. As servants, the Deacons of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church seek to meet the needs of our congregation in accordance with the blessing we have received from God. We pledge to prepare ourselves through daily prayer and study of the scriptures to develop a burning passion to share the good news of Jesus, His death, and Resurrection.

Trustee Ministry
Our purpose is to supervise and maintain all property belonging to the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective and can reach out to the community in Christian fellowship. The Trustee Ministry of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church is responsible for the financial transactions of the church and the care, oversight, and maintenance of all church property and to aid in equipping the church and life mission of the world in order to magnify God’s name.
